Criminal Offences

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Volunteering roles that involve working with children (persons under 18) or vulnerable adults are subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. A criminal record is not necessarily a barrier to volunteering. If you do have a criminal record, your suitability for a volunteering role will be assessed according to your record’s relevance to the role. If you are selected for interview we will assist you with completing the DBS disclosure form after the interview. We will follow the DBS Code of Practice concerning the use of information gained from the Disclosure Service, which ensures that sensitive personal information is handled and stored appropriately and is kept for only as long as is necessary.

Have you ever been convicted of a criminal offence?*

Is the offence "spent" as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974?*

Do you have a criminal conviction which is unspent?*

Or pending against you?*

Equal Opportunities Questionnaire

The County Council is striving to ensure that its workforce, including volunteers, reflects the county’s diverse population. To help us achieve this objective, applicants are asked to provide particular information so that we have an accurate picture of the people we manage. The information will also allow us to monitor our recruitment practices, to ensure that we do not unlawfully discriminate and help us to develop inclusive policies. Please complete this part of the application form so that we can check whether we are, in fact, receiving applications from all sections of the community, that candidates receive fair and equal treatment at all stages and that we comply with the relevant legislation. This monitoring form will be separated from the rest of the application form immediately on receipt and before the selection of candidates for interview takes place. The information you give is confidentially managed and does not affect your application. It will greatly assist us if you provide as much information as possible, but you are not obliged to do so.
