At SkillZONE we deliver safety education sessions which include home, fire, 999 and road safety. You also get to choose 5 other scenarios: details for these are available on the Village pages. You will be sent a form nearer the time of your visit to select your chosen scenarios.
Morning sessions are 10:00am-12:00noon, afternoon sessions are 1:00-3:00pm. We don’t offer whole day bookings; you will find that the 2 hour session will be more than enough for the children to take in. We appreciate that it may take you a while to finalise the number of children who will be attending, so we advise that you book your chosen date as soon as possible to prevent it being taken by another group. You can always reduce the number of children attending when you have firm commitments from your parents.
To enable us to deliver effective visits our capacity is a maximum of 30 children in the village (minimum number of children is 5). We are able to cater for a mixed age range as we will divide the children into small groups of similar ages (about 6 in each group). Each group will then receive safety messages that are appropriate to their age and experiences. All the children will need to cover the same scenarios.
The SkillZONE village is not suitable for children under 6 years of age, however parents are welcome to bring along some activities to occupy any younger children while they wait together for older siblings to complete their visit. There will be no charge for the younger ones waiting for their brothers and sisters. Please note any children not undertaking the SkillZONE visit MUST be appropriately supervised by members of your group – we are unable to do this for you.
Someone who knows the children must remain on site for the duration of the visit. Parents and carers are welcome to wait in our briefing room during this time.
We can take payment on the day, either by cash or cheque made to Gloucestershire County Council. If you are able to collect this and make a group payment on arrival that would be fantastic (you may find that this helps to secure commitment to the visit from the parents). Otherwise we will take payment from individual parents on the day. It would be useful for us to have a list of the names of the children attending and their age groups ( ie ages 6-7, 8-9 and 10-11 yrs ) prior to the visit. Again, we don’t need this at the time of booking – you can let us know when you make your scenario choices.
Hopefully, this provides you with all the detail you need to arrange your visit. If you do have any further questions or queries, please do not hesitate to contact us.
